This ’32 Ford roadster is a fiberglass-bodied hot rod that is powered by a 462ci Chevrolet V8 equipped with blueprinted cylinder heads, a cross-ram intake manifold, and six Stromberg 97 carburetors. The car rides on a tubular steel chassis with a dropped front axle, Pete & Jake’s radius rods, front disc brakes, and a four-link rear setup with adjustable coilovers. The cabin features diamond-plate floors and door panels as well as a Billet Specialties steering wheel, Classic Instruments gauges, and red leather bucket seats. Additional highlights of the build include a removable fiberglass hardtop, a Rootlieb steel hood, Supreme 15” steel wheels, a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission, and a limited-slip rear differential. Completed in 2019, this Deuce Highboy is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with spare parts and a clean Florida title.
The fiberglass body was sourced from Kaenen Composites of Melbourne, Florida, and features a cabin stretched by 4” as well as firewall modifications to increase legroom. Finished in cream, the car rides on a Roadster Shop tubular steel frame that has been powder-coated to match. Exterior details include a custom-fabricated removable fiberglass hardtop, a Rootlieb steel hood and louvered side panels, and silver door numerals outlined in red.
Supreme Wheel 15” steel wheels are mounted with 5.60” Firestone whitewall tires up front and 12.00” Radir Dragster units out back. The Magnum 4”-dropped front axle has been drilled and finished in red, and it is paired with a transverse leaf spring and Pete & Jake’s radius rods. The rear axle is also painted red and is supported by a four-link setup with adjustable coilovers. Stopping power is provided by front disc brakes with Wilwood calipers as well as rear drums.
Teas Design bucket seats are trimmed in red leather and joined by a color-coordinated headliner and transmission tunnel cover. Aluminum diamond-plate panels were used to form the floors, door panels, and the interior of the trunk, which houses an Optima Red Top battery. A Lokar shifter has been installed along with red pedals.
A Billet Specialties steering wheel is mounted to a Flaming River column, and Classic instrumentation consists of a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and alternator output. The six-digit odometer shows 7k miles.
A 454 big-block V8 was bored 0.040”-over to a calculated displacement of 462ci, and a Summit Racing SUM-1301 hydraulic flat-tappet camshaft was installed along with blueprinted cylinder heads and an Edelbrock X-C96 cross-ram intake manifold. Induction is through six Stromberg Super 97 carburetors connected by a progressive linkage with two units serving as primaries and the remainder as secondaries. Motion-branded valve covers are painted to complement the body, and other equipment includes an MSD ignition module, a Griffin aluminum radiator, and Lake-style exhaust headers.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission, a 2,000-rpm-stall torque converter, an aluminum driveshaft, and a Currie 9” limited-slip rear differential with 3.50:1 gearing and 31-spline drive axles.
An extra set of wheels and tires is included in the sale along with a second set of exhaust headers that connect to dual exhaust pipes when the hood and side panels are in use. The latter are pictured in the gallery below.
