This 1978 Datsun 280Z is one of approximately 1,500 Black Pearl Edition examples built for the final production year. It is finished in Black Pearl Metallic with white side stripes over black vinyl and powered by a 2.8-liter inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Features include power-assisted front disc brakes and 14″ steel wheels with full covers as well as rear window louvers and a push-button AM/FM radio. Acquired by the seller in 2024, this 280Z is now offered in Florida with a front bra and a clean Montana title in the name of the seller’s LLC.
The car is finished in Black Pearl Metallic with white side stripes and features a power antenna, a front bumper guard, hood vents, chrome bumpers, dual side mirrors, rear window louvers, and a single exhaust outlet. The 14″ steel wheels wear full covers and are mounted with 195/70 BFGoodrich Traction T/A tires. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums, and the fluid was recently flushed.
The cabin features bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl, and amenities include an electric rear window defogger, a push-button AM/FM radio, a locking glovebox, and luggage straps. Discoloration is noted on the outer edges of the carpet and the air conditioning system does not have any refrigerant.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,400-rpm redline, while an analog clock and readouts for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, and fuel level are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 66k miles, approximately 800 of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.8-liter L28 inline-six features Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection and was factory rated at 149 horsepower and 163 lb-ft of torque. Recent service involved flushing the coolant and changing the oil.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. The seller reports that the mounts and fluids for the transmission and differential were recently changed and that polyurethane mustache bar bushings were installed.
