This 1974 BMW 2002tii is a US-market example that was first delivered to Hoffman Motors in New York, New York, and was acquired by the seller in 2017. It was later sent to BMW Group Classic in Munich, Germany where it was refurbished between 2020 and 2022. Work totaling over $130k included refinishing the body in Fjord Metallic, overhauling the interior, and rebuilding the engine and gearbox. The car is powered by a 2.0-liter M10 inline-four linked to a five-speed manual transmission, and equipment includes Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection, 13″ FPS aluminum wheels, an earlier-style grille, round taillights, and European-specification bumpers. The cabin houses black vinyl-trimmed seats and features a push-button radio and a replacement three-spoke steering wheel. This 2002tii is offered in Canada with BMW Group Classic correspondence, refurbishment photos and invoices, an owner’s manual, and Ontario registration in the seller’s name.
The car was refinished in Fjord Metallic during the refurbishment, which included disassembling, repairing, and E-coating the body. An earlier-style grille, round taillights, and European-specification bumpers have been fitted, and the side markers have been removed. Other exterior details include a sunroof, a driver-side mirror, vent windows, and H4 headlights.
The 13″ FPS aluminum wheels were added during the refurbishment and are mounted with 185/70 Dunlop Sport tires. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The car was equipped from the factory with front and rear anti-roll bars. The brake servo was overhauled during the project.
The interior was overhauled during the refurbishment with a replacement dash pad, carpeting, and floor mats as well as a retrimmed trunk and refreshed door cards. The seats are upholstered in black vinyl, and cabin details include a push-button radio, a clock, and an earlier-style steering wheel. The seatbelt warning unit has been removed from the dash.
Instrumentation includes a 200-km/h speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,400-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 700 kilometers (~400 miles), approximately 200 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.0-liter M10 inline-four features Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection and was factory rated at 125 horsepower and 127 lb-ft of torque. The engine was rebuilt as part of the refurbishment, which also included refinishing the engine bay and replating several brackets and fasteners.
Power is routed to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission that was rebuilt during the project. A replacement stainless-steel exhaust system has been installed.
