The American Sunroof Corporation, which had built the 944 S2 cabriolet bodies, converted 625 Turbo coupes for the sole model year at their Weinsberg plant in Heilbronn, Germany. A padded roll cage was added to this example, and the left-hand-drive conversion included modifying the replacement dashboard to accept the cage. The door panels were removed, repaired, and redyed to match the replacement dashboard, and the vapor barriers were replaced. The under-carpeting insulation was also replaced, and the carpeting was modified and re-bound to left-hand-drive configuration. The steering column, pedals, and associated componentry were also relocated along with the wiring and ducting for the climate system.
