The Alfa Romeo twin-camshaft 1,290cc inline-four debuted in 1954 with the introduction of the Giulietta Sprint coupe. The design features an aluminum block and cylinder head, cast iron cylinder liners, and hemispherical combustion chambers. The selling dealer believes that this example was rebuilt under previous ownership.
A Solex 35 APAIG carburetor is installed. The engine retains a fan, air box, exhaust manifold, and ignition components.
Double overhead camshafts are housed under an aluminum cover with a dark crinkle finish that displays the Alfa Romeo script. A steel oil filler cap is secured to the cover.
Engine stamping number AR1315â41737â is consistent with an engine destined for installation in a 1957 Giulietta Spider 750D.
A four-speed gearbox is mounted to the engine.
