1933 Lincoln Model KB Coupe by Judkins

This 1933 Lincoln Model KB is one of 12 coupes bodied by J.B. Judkins of Merrimac, Massachusetts, on Lincoln’s V12-powered Series 251 platform for the model year. Chassis KB2390 participated in the 1982 Classic Car Club of America Pacific Northwest Caravan before undergoing a cosmetic refurbishment in the 1990s. It was subsequently purchased by the current owner in 1998 before earning a CCCA Senior badge in 2001, and participating in the 2009 CCCA Far Out West Caravan. The car is finished in black over gray whipcord cloth upholstery, and power comes from a 448ci V12 paired with a three-speed manual transmission with synchromesh. Equipment includes vacuum-assisted four-wheel drum brakes, 18″ wire-spoke wheels with dual side-mount spares, a golf bag door, black leather roof trim, a fold-down luggage rack, a rumble seat trimmed in gray leather, and a woodgrain dash panel. This Model KB is now offered on dealer consignment in California with a clean Illinois title in the owner’s name.

The Model K platform was introduced in 1931 as the successor to Lincoln’s debut series, the Model L. For 1933, the platform was split between the KA, powered by a new 382ci V12, and the KB, which featured the 448ci unit first introduced in 1932. The Judkins-built Model 264 bodywork on this example is said to have been refinished in its factory black in the 1990s and features chrome bumpers and trim, a greyhound hood ornament, parking lamps, running boards, rear-hinged doors, running boards, a golf bag door, a black leather roof trim, and a fold-down luggage rack. The selling dealer notes wear on the leather roof trim.

The 18″ wire wheels wear chrome hubcaps and are mounted with whitewall bias-ply tires. Dual side-mount spares are mounted with leather covers in the front fenders, and they are topped with chrome mirrors. The Model KB rode on a 145″ wheelbase and featured semi-elliptical leaf springs at all four corners. Stopping power is provided by vacuum-assisted four-wheel drum brakes.

The cabin features a bench seat trimmed in gray tufted whipcord cloth along with a color-matched headliner, dashboard surround, door panels, and carpets. Equipment includes a roll-down rear window, a window shade, and a storage compartment behind the seat. Stains on the door panels are noted by the selling dealer.

The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a woodgrain dash panel with dual gloveboxes as well as a central instrument cluster housing a 110-mph speedometer, a Lincoln-branded combination gauge, and a clock. The fuel-level gauge does not work. The five-digit odometer shows 40k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 448ci V12 features seven main bearings, a 65° angle between cylinder banks, aluminum pistons, and fork-and-blade connecting rods as well as a Stromberg two-barrel downdraft carburetor. Output was factory rated at 150 horsepower.
