Modified 3.0L-Powered 1983 Alfa Romeo GTV6 5-Speed

This 1983 Alfa Romeo GTV6 was purchased by the seller in the late 1990s and used at occasional track day events, during one of which it suffered an engine failure. It was subsequently fitted with a 3.0-liter V6 from a Milano Verde that had been set up for Showroom Stock racing with Sperry Valve Works Stage II cylinder heads and reground camshafts. The engine is paired with a Milano Platinum five-speed manual transaxle, and the car was refinished in silver in 2017. It features a welded six-point roll cage and black vinyl upholstery over two-place seating with five-point harnesses as well as power-assisted disc brakes, 16″ wheels, Koni Yellow shocks, Super Sport torsion bars, a three-core aluminum radiator, a MOMO steering wheel, and a JVC head unit linked to replacement speakers. This GTV6 is now offered with an Ohio title in the seller’s name.

Introduced to the North American market in 1981, the GTV6 was derived from the Alfetta coupe designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. This example is said to have received a glass-out two-stage repaint in the original color in 2017, at which time rusted areas were cut out and replaced. The side markers and lower cladding were also removed in 2017, with the holes for the cladding welded in. The C-pillar rain rutter has been removed, the stock bumpers collapsed, and the front fender seams and high-beam headlights eliminated.

The 16″ wheels are mounted with 225/45 Toyo Proxes R1R tires. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted ventilated front and inboard-mounted rear discs. The car rides lower than stock up front, with suspension modifications reportedly including a stiffer front sway bar with reinforced mounts as well as rear sport springs, a stiffer rear sway bar, and Koni Yellow shocks all around. Work in the last two years is said to include a brake fluid flush and replacement of the left-front wheel bearing.

The rear seats have been removed from the cabin in lieu of a carpeted cargo shelf, while the black-vinyl-upholsterd front seats were sourced from another GTV6 and are equipped with red five-point harnesses. The stock shoulder belts are retained. The power windows are described by the seller as slow, and work since 2023 included replacing the speakers and the shift boot along with repairing the driver’s door latch. A six-point welded roll cage has been added along with 1985-model door panels.

The MOMO steering wheel fronts an 85-mph speedometer, a 7,500-rpm tachometer, and an analog clock, while gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure are mounted above the center stack. The six-digit odometer shows 74k miles, approximately 12k of which were added under current ownership. The speedometer and clock do not work, and total mileage is unknown. The dashboard is cracked.

The Milano Verde-sourced 3.0-liter V6 was installed in approximately 2003 and is said to feature Sperry Valve Works Stage II cylinder heads and reground camshafts. A three-core aluminum radiator with two fans was installed approximately 10 years ago, along with a replacement timing belt. The air conditioning condenser has been removed. Work since 2023 reportedly included:

  • Coolant flush
  • Tank-to-pump fuel line replaced
  • Battery cable from trunk to firewall replaced
  • Intake plenum and vacuum lines refurbished
  • Plenum and valve covers repainted
  • Air filter replaced
  • Spark plugs, wires, cap, and rotor replaced
  • Headers painted
  • Heater core valve replaced

Power is routed to the rear wheels via a Milano Platinum five-speed manual gearbox with a tightened limited-slip differential. The clutch bearings were replaced in 2024, and rust is noted on the jack points.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage.

The Ohio title lists a “non-actual: warning odometer discrepancy” brand.
