409-Powered 1962 Chevrolet Biscayne 2-Door Sedan 4-Speed

This 1962 Chevrolet Biscayne two-door sedan was modified under prior ownership with the installation of a 409ci V8 and a Muncie four-speed manual transmission. The car was later imported to Canada around 2005 and was acquired by the seller in 2021. A Positraction rear end with 3.73:1 gearing was installed under current ownership along with an Edelbrock 500cfm four-barrel carburetor. Finished in black over patterned beige upholstery, the car is equipped with body-color steel wheels, hubcaps, dual exhaust, bench seats, lap belts, a Sun tachometer, and aftermarket auxiliary gauges. Other work performed under current ownership has involved installing PerTronix electronic ignition, repairing the wheel cylinders and the lights, and replacing the clutch, front coil springs, battery cables, and spark plugs. This modified Biscayne is now offered in Canada with service records from current ownership and Ontario registration in the seller’s name.

The two-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer and readouts for fuel level and coolant temperature. A Sun Electric Corporation 7k-rpm tachometer is affixed to the steering column, and aftermarket gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and battery charge are located ahead of the shifter. The five-digit odometer shows 72k miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership; true mileage is unknown. The speedometer needle reportedly jumps around when the car is being driven.

The 409ci V8 was installed approximately 20 years ago under previous ownership. A single-inlet Edelbrock 500cfm four-barrel carburetor with electric choke was fitted under current ownership, as were PerTronix electronic ignition and coils plus replacement battery cables and spark plugs. The oil pan leaks. The car’s chassis number indicates that it was originally powered by a 235ci inline-six.
