5.0L-Powered Sunbeam Alpine Project 5-Speed

This 1967 Sunbeam Alpine Series V is a running-and-driving project that was acquired by the seller in 2014 and subsequently was refurbished with installation of a Ford “5.0-liter” V8 and a five-speed manual transmission, while the front crossmember, front suspension, and rear axle reportedly were sourced from a Sunbeam Tiger. Other equipment includes a Holley four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock intake manifold, iron exhaust manifolds, side exhaust pipes, an aluminum radiator, American Racing 15″ wheels, Koni shocks, rack-and-pinion steering, Shelby-style traction bars, a Panhard bar, chassis stiffeners, a fuel cell, a Wilwood brake master cylinder, four-wheel disc brakes, flared wheel arches, a hood scoop, a black convertible top, a walnut dashboard, Classic Instruments gauges, and an aluminum transmission tunnel. The seller indicates that the project is not fully completed and recommends replacement of the tires and installation of the roll bar, parking brake, speedometer, horn, windshield wipers, and reverse lights. This V8-powered Alpine is now offered with refurbishment photos, spare parts, a top boot, and a Michigan title in the seller’s name.

Previously finished in red, the car was repainted green under current ownership following work that involved placing the stripped unibody on a rotisserie, repairing rust, adding flares to the wheel arches, and modifying the rocker panels to accept the custom side exhaust pipes. The car lacks bumpers and features a hood scoop and a replacement black convertible top. The seller notes that the windshield wipers and arms, side mirrors, and badges are not installed but are included in the sale along with a top boot. The car also lacks reverse lights and a tonneau cover.

American Racing 15″ five-lug wheels are mounted with 22.0/8.0-15 Mickey Thompson front and 26.5/8.0-15 Hoosier rear racing tires that the seller states should be replaced due to age; two sets of unused wheel centers will accompany the vehicle. The front crossmember, front suspension, and rear axle reportedly were sourced from a Sunbeam Tiger, and the car also utilizes square-tube chassis reinforcements, Shelby-style traction bars, a Panhard bar, Koni shocks, MG-based rack-and-pinion steering, a Wilwood brake master cylinder, four-wheel disc brakes, and Sunbeam calipers. A parking brake has not been installed.

The interior features bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl that was reupholstered under current ownership. The dashboard is made of walnut, and the cabin also features a heater, lap belts, and replacement carpeting. A custom transmission tunnel has been crafted from aluminum. The seller indicates that the roll bar is not solidly mounted for competition use. A horn is not installed, and a handbrake lever, pedal pads, and floor mats are included in the sale.

An aftermarket steering wheel sits ahead of replacement gauges from Classic Instruments composed of a 140-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows zero miles, and true mileage is unknown. The speedometer has not been connected.
