This steering wheel was produced in 1965 by Nardi-Personal in Italy and is said to be suitable for use in a Mercedes-Benz 300SL. A hub adapter intended for use in a 300SL Gullwing accompanies the steering wheel, which features a three-spoke design, a wood rim, and a replacement three-pointed star horn button. Acquired by the seller in 2004, this steering wheel is now offered at no reserve in Santa Clarita, California.
The steering wheel features three polished spokes, which join the center hub to a wood rim. The Nardi name is inscribed on the front of the right spoke. Knicks around the hub and separated wood on the rim are photographed up close in the gallery below.
A three-pointed star accents the replacement ivory-colored horn button. A flat-blade electrical connector is fitted to the wiring.
A stamping on the back of the lower spoke indicates that the wheel was manufactured in Italy in 1965.
A hub that can be pivoted downward to facilitate entry and exit for the driver is included in the sale and is said to be specific to a 300SL Gullwing. The seller notes that the release lever and 10mm pivot bolt have been re-chromed.
