This 1968 “Lil” Indian was acquired by the seller as a disassembled project in February 2024, and a subsequent refurbishment included rebuilding and installing a replacement three-horsepower Briggs & Stratton single, powder-coating the frame and springer fork in blue, and replacing the centrifugal clutch, drive chain, spot brake caliper, throttle cables, and hand grips. The bike also features a replacement “Lil” Indian-branded seat, 4″ wheels with period tires, and a side stand. This “Lil” Indian is offered at no reserve in Ohio for off-road use only with a bill of sale.
The seller states that the frame and the front-end assembly were stripped and powder-coated in blue under current ownership. Features include a side stand, tubular foot pegs with rubber tips, and a replacement seat with “Lil” Indian lettering and white piping.
Aluminum 4″ wheels wear Carlisle tires with visible sidewall cracks. Braking is provided by a replacement mechanical spot brake caliper, which engages with the rear sprocket as if it were a brake disc. A single spring mounted between the bottom triple tree and the frame head tube comprises the bike’s only suspension.
The handlebars are extensions of the fork tubes, and they are equipped with replacement hand grips and throttle cables in addition to a twist-grip throttle on the right and a rear brake lever on the left. No instrumentation is present, therefore total mileage is unknown.
The replacement three-horsepower Briggs & Stratton single was rebuilt under current ownership, with reported work having included honing the cylinder, lapping the valves, and replacing the rings, seals, and gaskets as well as repainting the engine in white with replacement decals. The seller states that the side-draft carburetor was overhauled as part of the refurbishment.
Power is sent to the rear wheel via a replacement Fairbanks-Morse centrifugal clutch and a replacement drive chain.
