This 1973 Volkswagen Super Beetle sedan was purchased by the seller in 2010 and subsequently refurbished, with work including repainting the body in blue, re-trimming the interior in black and white, mounting 15″ EMPI wheels, and installing a Kenwood CD stereo linked to aftermarket speakers. It is powered by a 1.6-liter flat-four that drives the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transaxle. The car is also equipped with quarter vent windows, running boards, a two-spoke steering wheel, and a heater. This 1303 Super Beetle is offered at no reserve with a clean New Mexico title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in blue and is said to have been repainted in 2020, at which time the windows were replaced. It features chrome-finished bumpers, quarter vent windows, a rear window defroster, running boards, and a vented rear engine cover. The 15″ EMPI wheels are mounted with Nexen tires measuring 165/80. The car was factory equipped with a MacPherson strut and coil spring front suspension in place of the standard Beetle’s torsion bar setup. Stopping power is provided by drum brakes at all four corners.
The front bucket seats and a rear bench were reupholstered in white and black with patterned inserts during the refurbishment, and the headliner, door panel inserts, and carpeting were also replaced at that time. Aftermarket window cranks have been added along with a Kenwood CD stereo linked to speakers housed in the front footwells and rear bulkhead. The seller notes an alarm system has been installed and the sun visors are missing.
The two-spoke steering wheel features a Wolfsburg crest and a horn ring. Instrumentation consists of a 100-mph VDO speedometer with an inset fuel-level gauge and a five-digit odometer that shows 17k miles, approximately 7k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The air-cooled 1.6L flat-four was factory equipped with a single downdraft carburetor and rated at 46 horsepower and 81 lb-ft of torque.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.
