This 1989 Pontiac Firebird Turbo Trans Am is one of 1,555 20th Anniversary Pace Car examples produced, and it shows 8k miles following the seller’s purchase in 2015. The car is finished in white over Camel leather upholstery and is powered by a turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes removable T-top panels, the Aero Package, a Y99 Rally Tuned Suspension, 16″ gold-finished diamond-spoke aluminum wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a rear spoiler, pop-up headlights, fog lights, a Delco cassette stereo, power windows, power locks, air conditioning, and cruise control. This Turbo Trans Am is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a window sticker, manufacturer’s literature, scale-model cars, Trans-Am memorabilia, a clean Carfax report, and a Connecticut registration.
The car is finished in white and features the Aero Package, which added revised front and rear fascias and side skirts. Additional equipment includes 20th-Anniversary badging, removable T-top roof panels, a rear spoiler, fog lights, hood vents, quad exhaust outlets, and pop-up headlights. The 16″ gold-finished diamond-spoke aluminum wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich g-Force tires. Braking is provided by power-assisted vented disc brakes at each corner. The car came equipped from the factory with power steering and a Y99 Rally Tuned Suspension, the latter of which added larger front and rear stabilizer bars.
The cabin features front bucket seats and individual rear seats trimmed in Camel leather, and amenities include a Delco cassette stereo with a graphic equalizer as well as power windows, power locks, air conditioning, cruise control, and a rear window defogger.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel features audio controls and frames a 140-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for voltage, fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The six-digit odometer shows 8k miles, approximately 150 of which were added under current ownership.
The turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 was shared with the contemporary Buick GNX and was factory-rated at 250 horsepower and 340 lb-ft of torque. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. The transmission has been equipped with a high-capacity cooling system.
A window sticker, manufacturer’s literature, scale-model cars, and additional Trans-Am memorabilia will accompany the sale.
The Carfax report lists at least one open recall.
The vehicle does not have a title, as it is located in a state that does not issue titles to vehicles of its age. It is being offered on its Connecticut registration which lists the vehicle as antique.
