The new successor to the Range Rover Sport SVR performance SUV has been unveiled as the 2024 Range Rover Sport SV, which is set to arrive in Australian showrooms towards the end of 2023. Priced from $360,800 plus on-road costs, the Sport SV comes with an upgraded, mild-hybrid version of BMW’s 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged ‘S63’ petrol V8, which can produce 467kW and 750Nm of torque. It features an all-wheel drive and eight-speed automatic transmission, with an acceleration time of 0-100km/h in 3.8 seconds, and a top speed of 290km/h. This model can generate a cornering force (lateral acceleration) of up to 1.1G on all-season tyres, and it comes with a new ‘6D Dynamics’ air suspension system with pitch control, multi-mode sport exhaust, rear-wheel steering, brake-based torque vectoring system, and an active locking rear differential. The SUV debuts new carbon-ceramic brakes that resist brake fade and reduce unsprung weight compared to the standard dual-cast iron discs.
The exterior of the Ranger Rover Sport SV is characterised by a new front bumper, larger air intakes, quad carbon-fibre-tipped exhaust outlets, and carbon fibre materials used for front bumper blades, grille surround, bonnet and side vents, and the Range Rover badges. The inside of the SUV features “Body and Soul Seat” technology, illuminated SV logos, 29-speaker, 1430-watt Meridian Signature stereo system with six specially developed tracks, steering-wheel shift paddles, sports steering wheel with an SV button, black ceramic gear shifter, and carbon-fibre-look trim pieces.
For the first-year production, the 2024 Range Rover Sport SV will be available in the Edition One specification with unique design touches that is only available for select clients to order by invitation. The updated Range Rover Sport line-up for 2024 includes diesel and plug-in hybrid variants along with the new petrol SV Edition One, which has received price rises of up to $6559. Standard petrol variants are expected to return for Model Year 2025 production next year.
