Drive.com.au Highlights Real-Life Drivers Embracing the Electric Dream

Drive TV to Feature Documentary ‘Living with Electric Vehicles’

Electric vehicles are taking the world by storm, with people making the switch to greener and more sustainable transportation. Australians are also joining in, with electric vehicle sales increasing by 214% compared to the same period last year. With the number of electric vehicles sold reaching 23,926 as of the end of April 2023, Australia is set to see 70,000 new electric cars on its roads by the end of the year.

To celebrate this shift towards electric vehicles, Drive TV is presenting a special feature documentary called ‘Living with Electric Vehicles.’ The program will air on 9Network at 12 pm on Saturday, 27th May. Drive TV hosts Trent Nikolic and Emma Notarfrancesco will meet with five people who have made “the switch.” They will follow these people on their electric vehicle ownership journey and look at the challenges, costs, and stereotypes that they have faced in integrating electric vehicles into their everyday lives and homes.

The program will also feature a 12-page print lift-out available in The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age newspapers this Saturday, which supports the documentary. The Drive: Electric feature documentary and print lift-out will explore what it takes to make the switch to electric vehicles and make them a part of everyday life.

Drive’s Director of Content, James Ward, stated, “If you are part of the 86% of the Australian population who lives in an urban area and travel less than 100km per day, then electric vehicle ownership can absolutely work if you want it to.” However, electric vehicle ownership is not just restricted to city dwellers, as the program will show. Drive TV will look at what it means to make the switch in regions without big city infrastructure.

Ward added, “Not all of our owners can charge at home, as our regional and high-density owners need to use the public network. And while it’s still desperately lagging, with a few considerations to how you go about your week, even this can be easy – with planning. However, the best part is it’s going to get even easier.”

Drive TV is dedicated to featuring electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, celebrating the great Australian road trip, and educating people on sustainable transportation options. Its recent electric vehicle special, which aired in October 2022, was the highest-rated and most streamed Drive TV episode to date.

Trent Nikolic, Drive TV host and Drive.com.au Managing Editor, stated, “Australia presents a challenging motoring landscape. While we’re still behind the likes of many countries when it comes to charging infrastructure, we’re seeing buyer confidence like never before. For the first time, we’ve seen electric vehicles outsell the more traditional hybrid model, which tells us we’re starting to see buyer decisions evolve beyond traditional EV ownership barriers. Living the electric dream may just be easier than you think.”

In addition to Drive’s feature documentary, the Drive Team offers trusted expert reviews of new cars, making it the go-to resource for consumers looking for their next new vehicle. The Drive Team also provides informative articles on automotive trends, industry news, and car buying advice. Electric vehicles are the future, and it is time to join the movement towards sustainable transportation.
