A Victorian heraldic locket fashioned in gold and engraved with what we believe is the crest of Henry Francis Compton, a demi-dragon erased with wings elevated, the body enfiled with a ducal coronet (to quote Fairbairn’s Book of Crests). The reverse side is engraved with the monogram “JMC” (or possibly “MJC”). The locket currently holds a photo and panel of hair work, these can easily be removed by a jeweler to add your own photos if you so desire.
