1983 Ferrari 512 BBi

This 1983 Ferrari 512 BBi is one of 1,007 fuel-injected examples produced during a four-year production run, and it was sold new via Charles Pozzi Ferrari SAS in Paris, France, before it was brought to the US and Federalized in June 1983. The car is powered by a 4.9-liter F110A flat-12 linked with a five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential, and it is finished in Nero Ferrari over Rosso leather with black accents. Equipment includes pop-up headlights, fog lights, metric five-spoke wheels, center-locking hubs, bucket seats, air conditioning, a cassette stereo, Pioneer door speakers, and a gated shifter. A timing-belt service in January 2019 also included replacing the alternator, water pump, and spark plugs. This 512 BBi shows 26k kilometers (~16k miles) and is now offered by the selling dealer with records, historical photographs, a clean Carfax report, and a clean New York title.

The Berlinetta Boxer model was styled by Pininfarina’s Leonardo Fioravanti and was introduced at the 1971 Turin Auto Show, and it features a steel-paneled cabin section paired with a tubular chassis. Aluminum is incorporated for the front and rear clamshells and door panels, while the lower panels are fiberglass. The 512 BBi variant was introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1981. The cars were not officially offered in the US and were imported and Federalized in-period via the gray market.

This example was completed on November 22, 1982, and is finished in Nero Ferrari. It features pop-up headlights, fog lights, a front spoiler, NACA side ducts, and quad exhaust outlets. Center-lock 415mm five-spoke wheels are mounted with Michelin Radial X tires. The 512 BBi features a fully independent suspension with unequal-length double wishbones, coilovers up front, a double coilover setup out back, and anti-roll bars fore and aft. Stopping power is provided by ventilated discs at all four corners.

The cabin is upholstered in Rosso leather (VM 3171) with black leather accents, and amenities include a gated dogleg shifter, air conditioning, a cassette stereo, Pioneer door speakers, and power windows.

A major service completed by Pocono Sportscar in Shohola, Pennsylvania, in January 2019 totaled roughly $18k and included replacing the timing belts as well as the alternator, water pump, tensioner, idler bearings, camshaft seals, air filters, fuel filters, and spark plugs.
