2011 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD Review Price
This vehicle was purchased to ensure capable movement of our RV. The engine runs strong, the frame and suspension handle the load with ease and it is just a pure joy to drive. It has the 6.6 Duramax Diesel engine and not pulling a load gets approx. 17mpg around town and just under 20 Hiway. Pulling a load…well now that’s another story. My preference has always been Chevy/GMC over Ford or Dodge in the truck market.
I am very happy with my Silverado LT 2500 extended cab 4WD, its a solid vehicle. I use it for carrying my Lance camper. Looking at the specs, it is actually overloaded with the camper but the truck just sinks to level from the normal rear end high position. Plenty of power in the 6 liter gas engine, not as much torque as the diesel but way more lively when unloaded. Ride is smooth for a pickup this size and I have had no reliability issues or recalls. Features like tow haul mode for those long hills, manual gear selection of the 6 speed, posi-traction etc are nice to have. Cabin is well appointed, good sound, air conditioning is strong, controls intuitive and you can seat 3 in the front seat.
Things I do not like are that the steering wheel does not extend, I am 6′ 3″ and with the seat fully back its a stretch to the wheel; the rear seat is only for kids or stuff and the bottom folds up (I guess a safety feature re the older trucks where the back folded down for a flat platform); and strangely the indentations in the roof sheet metal for strength create small valleys that gather dirt and any moisture. If these projected outward this problem would not occur. Also the lumbar support in drivers seat is poor, I need extra support cushion to avoid being folded up like a pretzel.
